Gérard Traquandi. L’Approbation de la nature
The exhibition
Gérard Traquandi, post-screen painter
The Caen Museum of Fine Arts, which stands between the ramparts like a streamlined line in place of the vanished castle, houses a rich collection of classical and impressionist paintings presented around an atrium that both attracts and pleasantly disorients the visit. This central breakthrough immediately interested the painter Gérard Traquandi, the fifth artist invited by the director Emmanuelle Delapierre to invest the space of the museum reserved for contemporary collections. In relation to the verticality of the skylight, he created new paintings and organized the hanging. The refined chords of his paintings evoke the essence of the painting present on all the floors of the building.
