"In this world, which the news tells us is falling apart, I felt that my own bearings were shaken. For me, who has always strived to organise my practice, colour is an attempt to bring a touch of chaos into it. Indeed, Mathieu Bonardet's body of work shows that he first set out to capture a line, that of the horizon, which was pushed to the limits of the parallels in his early landscape drawings and then brought back to within reach of his body in filmed or in situ actions.
