After a period of absence, Arthur Aillaud returns to Galerie La Forest Divonne with a new series of paintings depicting views of contemporary Greece. The aim here is not to move us with the picturesque beauty of white houses set against an azure sky, but rather to show us the other side of the picture. This body of work is based on photographs from property advertisements for houses and land for sale in Greece, featuring mundane, charmless imagery: buildings under construction, abandoned areas, overgrown vegetation, etc. Here, the artist offers a lucid vision of the economic reality of a country he is particularly fond of, where he spent many holidays during his childhood.
