The Swedish Institute offers free admission to contemporary art exhibitions and multidisciplinary events—including music, film, literature, and the performing arts—as well as a permanent exhibition of 18th-century paintings and prints. Since its opening in 1971, it has been housed in a private mansion with remarkable architecture, in the heart of the Marais.

The Swedish Institute is Sweden’s only cultural institute abroad. It promotes cultural and artistic exchange between France and Sweden through its programming, as well as through residencies for artists and researchers based in Sweden, and its Swedish language courses.
