The exhibition

Intimate quartet at the Valérie Eymeric gallery

By opening a cabinet of curiosities within her Lyon gallery, Valérie Eymeric wishes to give a place to younger artists in a space that lends itself to works in intimate formats.

"It is one of the artists with whom I work, Frederic Galliano, who had the idea with Paul Trigoust, my assistant, to transform a space where works were stored into a cabinet of curiosities", explains the one who opened her gallery in 2014. The size of a bedroom, connected to that of the gallery, Valérie Eymeric wanted to break the codes by furnishing it in association with a nearby antique dealer while she entrusted the reins to the duo who had submitted the idea to him for the organization of the first exhibition. It is therefore small formats that they have brought together, with four artists working in a certain proximity with their supports. And if the Londoners Sara Dare and Jo Lewis knew each other before, this was not the case of the Lyonnaises Leïla Brett and Marie-Julie Michel, who converge in their concerns for “the pattern, the repetition of this pattern until its disappearance (Brett) despite different backgrounds.
