The exhibition

Final Bouquet

While we are emerging from a pandemic and the war continues to rage in Ukraine, one might find it strange that the eleven exhibitions of the 5th Biennale des Arts de Nice are entirely devoted to innocent battles of flowers. Certainly, after the Italian Girolamo Muzio, who in the 16th century was ecstatic about the women of Nice "adorned with flowers and greenery on their ears and in their braids", the poet Jean Lorrain 400 years later was intoxicated by "the fragrant symphonies in white, mauve, pink, carnations, anemones, narcissi and wallflowers in the mornings of Nice".
