The exhibition

Arriving in Paris in 1900 at the time of the great retrospective that Rodin, at the height of his fame, organised for himself on the sidelines of the Universal Exhibition, Picasso claimed to owe his first sculpture to the creator of The Thinker. His Seated Woman (1902) is reminiscent of the crouching women of his 41-year-old predecessor, with its stooped attitude expressing prostration and amorous idleness. This year, their museums in Paris are jointly examining the convergences between their respective works.
