Not to be exactly a museum retrospective – and how could it be in a place where it’s not the object? , the exhibition dedicated to Gasiorowski by L'Académie, a site dependent on the Shed, in Maromme, near Rouen, is worth a visit. All the pieces gathered here invite us to a reunion with one of the greatest painters of the second half of the 20th century. A painting-loving painter, who worshipped “Painting” – with a capital letter as much as he wrote it down or emphasized it orally each time he spoke his name. At his home, we didn’t go to the workshop, we went to «see Painting», as he said. At L'Académie, we have the opportunity to go and venerate this goddess both mysterious and familiar...
