The exhibition

In Saint-Raphaël, the artists make their exodus

For the woman who presides over the Union Méditerranéenne pour l'Art Moderne, a cultural association created under the patronage of Matisse and Bonnard to support young Mediterranean artists, the universal theme of exodus was a natural choice, emanating from the desire to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Algeria's independence. Bringing together 85 artists of fifteen nationalities, most of the works are commissions and some have been lent, such as Road to Exile, a wooden boat by Barthélémy Toguo. The sculptures in particular are noteworthy: those of Marc Petit, whose spindly bodies and tormented faces express the loss of mental boundaries in a striking way; but also those, monumental, of Christophe Charbonnel, which revisit mythology through David and Goliath or the kidnapping of Antiope by Theseus.

Itinerary in eight places, including the Villa des Myrtes, the archaeological museum, the cultural center, Saint-Raphaël.
