The exhibition

Not everyone is capable of madness," warned Strindberg, "and those who are lucky enough to be so do not always have the courage. Considered a nation of religion (Protestant) and reason (entrepreneurial), Sweden will have had this courage while cultivating in parallel a delirious esoteric thought, which finds its literary and plastic expression in works with nothing in common with those of the world. Bozar is therefore organizing an exhibition bringing together some 130 works by several leading figures of the Swedish art scene from Emanuel Swedenborg in the 18th century to the turn of the 20th century with August Strindberg, known as a writer, but also as an author of drawings and paintings. The same period gave birth to the visual art of visionaries such as Hilma af Klint, who unknowingly founded lyrical and geometric abstraction.
