Didier Mencoboni's colorful, abstract compositions are the fruit of a reflection on the occupation of space. Color continually seeks to escape the frame of the painting and infiltrate the surrounding space. Didier Mencoboni's work is above all abstract, consisting of both small and large formats, and periodically calling on different media such as canvas, paper, fabric, mirror, even Plexiglas and other materials. In parallel with the various forms taken by the work, a body of work entitled ...Etc... (opposite), begun in 1988, is developing ad infinitum, elusive in its quantity, and to date comprises 2,400 paintings. Like a pictorial diary, she inscribes painting in time, recording time in her own way. From one series to the next, the work is nourished by techniques and encounters, drawing on their specificities. Whether oil paint, watercolor or gold leaf, each series is a response to the particularities of the materials.
