The exhibition

For this new year, La Galerie Roanne de Saint Laurent offers a set of paintings, retracing the last years of pictorial creation. The exhibition highlights the originality of this new wave of artists. 7 artists (including 3 permanent artists of the gallery) from all backgrounds and different techniques present works which oscillate between melancholy and nostalgia, abandonment and joy, youth and experience. An exchange of their unique views, representing an innovative aesthetic, through their worlds at the start of the 21st century.

Victor de Bernis shapes contrasts with clouds of lines, works on the way in which gesture and colors intertwine, brush against each other, and marry, creating a visual harmony that reads differently depending on the distance.

Fishel Pinhas
Artist from Ukraine, student of Fine Arts in kyiv, political refugee in Paris with his wife and children. His exile, his forced flight, influenced his work. He presents teapots, an everyday object “reassuring” of the sweetness of the family cocoon, of the house, which he explodes and rebuilds, like the explosion of his life.

Condensed with energy, Jean Pierre Vong's sculptures represent bodies collected on themselves whose lines are distorted by tensions, tugging, a plastic beauty made of contained violence. Jean Pierre VONG wanted by deforming the material to reveal the appearance of the soul because he tells us: “The consistency of the material makes us forget that it is only the fabric conforming to the shape of the soul.” .

Darshana Congreve paints mainly in watercolor and intensely explores this technique and its particularities, sometimes adding mixed techniques, including, for example, colored pencils. From the work of eminent scientists, on which he creates and bases his approach, the artist immerses himself in a specific pictorial research linked to the organic properties of water (morphogeny) and mental projections (abstract geometry) where the work seeks balance between the heart, intuition and mind.

Rossella Rossi could be the spiritual daughter of KANDINSKY as she considers that inner experience cannot be communicated and that it requires reading by everyone. It is true that, like him, she had an academic career, and carried out fundamental research at the CNRS on the theme of DNA for 15 years. From Italy to France and back to Italy, she simply moved her research laboratory to her workshop to continue her quest for aesthetic values.

Loïc Allemand, contemporary post-impressionist, his own touch exceeds that of the two "Nabi cousins", Vuillard and Bonnard, through the movements, the poses, which he invented throughout his career of more than thirty years. Over the years, he produced a large quantity of works, several hundred are in numerous international collections.

Geralda van der Es's work expresses her new awareness of the connections between her inner and outer world. This universe defines what she is: curious, unfettered and wild. It is the authentic pursuit of self-discovery that is on display here.
