L’Invention du quotidien
The exhibition
At a time of social change, when world events can cause anxiety and withdrawal, artists, like sentinels, engage and react to their observations. They propose new ways of inhabiting the city, of practising it, of living it by reappropriating it in a poetic and political way. Michel de Certeau's book The Practice of Everyday Life guided curator Sandra Patron in writing this exhibition, which she wanted to be ‘an antidote to fear, joyful, hopeful and combative’, bringing together nearly thirty artists of different nationalities to showcase the various ways in which they appropriate their environment.
