To mark the bicentenary of photography, the Grand Palais is hosting the 29th edition of Paris Photo. The origins of photography and its very first photograph are being celebrated, two centuries after its invention in 1826, through an exhibition offering a cross-cutting perspective on the evolution of photographic practices, from its beginnings to contemporary works.

To enhance this special edition, Paris Photo has invited several galleries specialising in historical photography, such as Hans P. Kraus Jr., which has always remained faithful to the founding techniques of the art form, including the camera lucida, daguerreotypes, photogenic drawings and calotype negatives. There are also new participants from Europe and beyond: the La Cometa gallery from Bogotá, Lia Rumma from Milan, Filomena Soares from Lisbon, and L’Atelier 21 from Casablanca.
