The exhibition

It is through the works of the father, Philippe Pradalié, to whom two exhibitions were devoted in the same museum, that the visitor is introduced to the work of the son, Thomas Verny. This curatorial choice makes sense because of the filiation, but it is also relevant in the aesthetic comparison of the two artists. Indeed, although their works differ in the use of media and compositional choices, we observe in Thomas Verny's work the same desire for an economy of means, a strong sense of synthesis in the landscape and a solidly composed architecture of planes.

This exhibition, structured around views taken from the Paul-Valéry museum and the surrounding area, shows the work of an artist who clearly assumes his debt to the old masters of 19th century landscape, from Pierre-Henri de Valenciennes to Félix Vallotton via Corot.
